Project 3 - Aggregate model drawings

Exploration of an aggregate model through drawings.

Concept for remodeling the traditional defition of a garden gazebo. The structure has a mechanical core that allows for different uses of the structure based on the position of the middle piece. With open roof and covered seating area, it creates creates an elevated stage in the middle of the structure. in this position the middle part seems heavy and monolithic, such as a rock coming out of the ground. Thanks to the mechanism that winds up the cables holding up the middle piece around the diameter of the sunken seat-ing area, one individual person can pull up the middle piece by themselves and uncover the sunken seating area hidden underneath.

An assignment in the Junior Fall Studio asked us to connect two given silhouettes (top view + bottom view images on next page), and create a volumetric shape. Since I under-stood my two silhouettes being both constructed out of two main parts, I have decided to highlight that in my model. I used shearing and seperating the two halves, into making this balanced sculputre-like volumetric object that has three possible modes of resting,

Project 1 - Aggregate model drawings

Exploration of an aggregate model through drawings.

This assignment involved exploring the underlying systems of an aggregate model (created by Tian Hsu) through technical drawings. I carefully observed the object to accurately translate it into 2D representations. Using deconstructed drawings, I then analyzed and explained the underlying systems present within the object.
